Wakefield Township is located in the central Stearns County, Minnesota. This township is wrapped around the cities of Cold Spring and Richmond with the Sauk River meandering through its center. Although rural by nature, today it is considered a progressive area with an ever increasing population as part of a larger, growing community.  The township is home to many lakes, rivers and streams and is host to a number of different recreation opportunities, including parks, private campgrounds and groomed snowmobile trails. A cooperative movement with several other municipal governments provides library service and a bike/recreation trail. The proximity to major transportation routes makes Wakefield Township a good location for light industrial manufacturing, as is evidenced in the industrial parks that line the highway corridor.
